| Celebrate 10 Years
NorthStar Bank & Agency first opened its doors on
April 1, 1997, at 103 North Ninth Street. In November of 1999 an office
was opened in Armstrong. A new location was constructed in Estherville,
and NorthStar moved to its current location at 2202 Central Avenue in
June of 2004.
During its 10 years, there have been numerous changes. The most recent
is the retirement of George Shadle, who has been in the insurance
industry for over 25 years. Joining the Agency is Rick Rosburg, Agency
Manager, and Ryan Swalve, agent/producer. We look forward to assisting
you with all your insurance needs.

now an agent for AAA insurance and/or membership. Being a member with
AAA gives you many benefits, one of which is giving you a resource to
help you plan your trip. You can receive discounts at many retailers
and restaurants. And best of all, you can receive a discount on your
AAA auto and homeowner policies for having a membership with AAA.
Homeowner's - How Much is Enough?
If you are like most people, your
home probably represents a large share of your financial wealth. Thus,
don't you want to make sure you have adequate coverage that fully
protects your investment?
Homeowner insurance companies recommend the limit of coverage on your
home or dwelling to be 100% of replacement cost, not market value. This
will allow you to rebuild your home. Replacement cost is calculated by
several factors. It is important to note that reconstruction usually
costs more than new construction due to economies of scale, demolition
and debris removal, labor efficiency, changes in building codes, access
to work site, unusual materials and features, inflation, etc.
NorthStar Agency recommends you review your homeowner policy annually.
Make a list of your personal property items and update it periodically, because you may be requested to provide a list in the event of a loss of
household personal property. Keep it somewhere other than in your home.
As an alternative to listing your personal property, consider taking a
video or digital pictures.
"Insurance to value" is the phrase the insurance industry uses to
describe the amount of insurance needed to build a replacement of your
home if it is completely destroyed. Make sure your "insurance to value"
has been adjusted for current costs.
